Subsidies and aid for solar panels for self-consumption in the Balearic Islands

When is the best time to invest in a solar panel installation and capitalize on the energy the sun provides? Without a doubt, it’s NOW. We are living in a time of energy transition, in which we are moving toward cleaner and more sustainable consumption. Furthermore, as an incentive, the government is providing significant financial assistance for the installation of solar panels for self-consumption and aerothermal energy, contributing to this ecological transition. Are you going to miss this opportunity?

What aid is available in the Balearic Islands?

Currently, there is an open subsidy in the Balearic Islands, called Next Generation EU. It is divided into six incentives or programs, each aimed at a specific type of customer and installation. Within these six programs, it is subdivided into three subgroups: NextG Business, NextG Residential, and NextG Thermal.

What does each incentive consist of?

The first of these is aimed at the service sector and other productive sectors, i.e., businesses. It encompasses incentives 1, 2, and 3. It provides aid for newly constructed self-consumption photovoltaic solar panel installations or the installation of batteries in existing photovoltaic solar panel installations.

Second, we have subgroup 2, which refers to solar self-consumption panel installations for residential homes. The aid it offers is also aimed at new self-consumption installations or the implementation of storage systems for existing ones. This residential subgroup includes programs 4 and 5.

Finally, there is Program 6, which refers to thermal renewable energy installations in the residential sector, such as aerothermal installations, as we explained in our previous post on aerothermal energy.

How much financial aid can I receive?

Incentive 1, 2, and 3

Incentive 4 and 5

The Next Generation grant also provides support for wind energy installations, biomass boilers, and solar thermal collectors, among other initiatives. They also offer an additional amount for photovoltaic pergola installations and shared self-consumption community installations.
